What to Know About Invisalign®
We could go on for pages answering questions about Invisalign. It is a remarkable treatment that can result in much needed changes to someone’s smile. Here are three of the questions we get the most:
How is Invisalign Different From Braces?
Traditional metal braces include hardware that consists of brackets, wires and rubber bands. These items are placed on the teeth and work together to shift the teeth into placement. Invisalign uses clear aligner trays to slowly transition the teeth into the desired position. Some patients need clear attachments, or buttons, placed on certain teeth to assist with the movement of the teeth.
How Long Does Invisalign Take to Straighten Teeth?
Unfortunately, each patient has a different experience with treatment time. There are a number of factors taken into consideration when determining the length of treatment, with the number one factor being the state of the teeth. Patients with serious complications are going to take longer to complete treatment than those who are looking to make minor adjustments. The average length of treatment is 12-18 months, but some patients, who only need minor adjustments, may only receive treatment for 6 months.
Is It Easy to Care For the Trays?
It is important to take great care of the Invisalign trays so they do not become damaged or lost. Be sure to store them in a case when they are not in use. We also recommend following our cleaning instructions so the trays do not become damaged. Cleaning the trays properly also helps prevent patients from experiencing bad breath.
