We’re Spreading the Love
The saying, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” certainly holds true when it comes to avoiding painful and costly dental problems. Our goal is to give you the best dental care possible, but it’s your own dental hygiene habits that really set you up for a lifetime of great oral health. We’re spreading the love this month by sharing key reminders on how you can prevent common dental conditions.
- Brushing your teeth at least twice a day is critical in keeping bacteria off your teeth and gums. Also, try to brush for at least 2 minutes. That’s just the right amount of time to remove plaque buildup.
- Flossing once a day is a critical step in your dental care because the floss gets in between your teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach. Make sure to get the bottom of your teeth near your gums, but be gentle to avoid bleeding.
- Use a fluoride mouthwash, which can also get into those hard to reach places that your toothbrush might miss.
- Reduce your intake of sweets and minimize tobacco use. These are two things that can wreak havoc on your teeth, causing tooth decay, discoloration and staining of your teeth.
And of course, make sure to keep up with routine dental checkups and exams. A professional cleaning and exam will help you maintain your at-home dental care. We also check for any dental problems that might be developing. Think of us as your partner in dental healthcare! We look forward to seeing you at your next dental visit.
