Importance Of Routine Hygiene Examination And Cleaning
When was the last time you and your loved ones visited our office for an oral hygiene examination and cleaning? If it has been longer than six months, you are due for a visit. We know life is busy with work, family obligations, activities, and time with friends, and it can feel like you don’t have a free moment. Making your oral health a priority is necessary to ensure you have excellent oral health now and in the future. Even if you have an excellent oral hygiene routine between visits, regular dental care and cleanings are important to ensure you are not experiencing any complications with your oral health.
What to Expect During a Cleaning
When you receive an oral hygiene examination, we check a few things regarding your oral health. We start the appointment with X-rays to see inside the tooth and the tooth root. This allows our team to determine if there are any problem areas with decay. Our team also does a visual inspection to look for signs of oral cancer and gum disease. The X-rays and visual inspection also help us determine if there are any problems, such as broken fillings or cracked or chipped teeth.
During the actual cleaning of the teeth, the hygienist uses various tools to remove plaque and tartar that have accumulated on the teeth since your last visit. The better you clean your teeth with brushing and flossing, the less we will have to clean off the teeth. We will also do a deep clean and shine the teeth as well.
Dangers of Postponing Routine Visits
The longer you go between dental appointments, the greater your chance of experiencing a complication or emergency. Dental problems do not heal on their own; they will continue to progress and worsen. If we are not able to be proactive and treat these problems every few months, you will need more extensive treatments.
If it has been more than six months since your last oral hygiene examination and cleaning, we would love to see you. Be sure to contact our office, located in Wellington, FL, to schedule an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
